Tired of your policy messaging falling flat? Animation is a powerful, yet underutilized solution to capture attention and convey messages more effectively.

By combining visuals, sound, and storytelling, animations make concepts more accessible and engaging for diverse audiences.

The Benefits of Animation

Visual Control

Whereas live-action film imposes many limitations on what a director can put on screen, animation gives the creator full command over everything the audience sees. The blank canvas medium allows them to focus viewers’ attention exactly where it’s needed. Creators can engineer the perfect scene with exaggerated colors, movements, or designs to guide the audience through the narrative they’re seeking to convey.

In a recent project, NJI took Pixel the Panda on a globetrotting adventure through forests, cities, and arctic mountains. We used animation to shift the world around Pixel, seamlessly transforming her journey through locations and animation styles.

Our media production team took Pixel on an adventure through three mediums, styles, and locations to help clients visualize the best medium for their projects.

Creative Freedom

Animation enables characters to move through time and space in unrealistic ways, stepping outside the bounds of biology, physics, and reality. Animators can create stylized character designs such as modified animals, nonexistent figures, or gender neutral humans.

NJI recently built an animated, gender-neutral 3D model, “NuPerson”, to help guide viewers through the applications of silicone-based medical implants. The interactive experience gave event-goers an engaging and educational way to explore Avantor NuSil’s cutting-edge solutions.

NJI sculpted an androgynous, interactive model to showcase the applications of Avantor’s new, high-purity silicone product to global audiences.

Audio-Visual

Video is nothing without audio. The best-edited pieces use audio to their advantage, syncing what’s on screen with voiceover and music. Animation gives the creator unprecedented command over speed and timing, allowing every facet of the animation to sync with the smallest cues in the musical track.

This synchronicity makes the medium exceptionally powerful for bringing audio works to life, as seen in NJI’s trailer animations for the Emergent BioSolutions’ Countermeasures podcast series. The visuals were built from the ground up to suit the audio and highlight its emotional impact.

NJI animated a season recap for Emergent BioSolutions’ Countermeasures podcast, capturing key moments from the first season and teasing the upcoming one.

Policy Implications

Animation has the potential to reshape how policy issues are communicated, enhancing engagement, accessibility, and connection with diverse audiences.
