I’ll start this off by saying that we love giving back to the design/dev community in any way that we can. Lately, we’ve been really busy and unfortunately, we haven’t had as much time as we would like to spend on creating tasty morsels of awesomeness to give away to all you guys.
We recently released an iOS7 UI Stencil for Omnigraffle and due to the overwhelming response we thought we’d give a little love to the developers out there. We know one of the worst parts of being a web developer is exporting assets from psd files. So, the design shop took it upon ourselves to make our developers lives a little easier.
We created a set of Photoshop actions to automate the trimming and saving for web process. The actions work by duplicating the selected layer to a new document, then trimming the transparent pixels from said document. Once that’s done, it automatically saves the new document to your desktop as the file type of your choice. Boom.
We’ve included the following actions:
- PNG-24
- PNG-8
- PNG-8 (128) Dithered
- JPEG (Max)
- JPEG (Very High)
- JPEG (High)
- JPEG (Medium)
- JPEG (Low)
- GIF (256) No Dither
- GIF (256) Dithered
- GIF (128) No Dither
- GIF (128) Dithered
- GIF (64) No Dither
- GIF (64) Dithered
You can download the action set HERE.
To install the action, just unzip the file and double click the .atn file. Photoshop does everything else for you.
If you want to know how to create your own actions check out our post on Photoshop Actions and Batch Processing
We hope you guys find this as useful as we do.
